Pilgrimage Application

Please read all of the descriptions, terms, and conditions of our trips carefully, and then fill out the application below to reserve a space on one of our Scotland pilgrimages. Acceptance will be finalized after a Zoom meeting with Monette, and a $1,000 deposit will secure your spot. Space is limited to six women for each trip and are expected to fill quickly.

Lodging

Please note that prices for your trip are based on SINGLE or DOUBLE occupancy for each room. We will have the opportunity to all have our own rooms for some parts of the journey as noted in the trip description. If you indicate single occupancy, you will not share a room on any part of the trip. If you have special room requirements, please let us know. Amendments may adjust the fee. If your preferred room type is not available, I will reach out to confirm your accommodations.

Meals

Breakfast will be provided as part of your trip fee. We will breakfast together at the hotel or B&B where we are staying, Breakfast items typically include cereal, milk, yogurt, vegetarian and vegan options, eggs, toast, coffee, tea, and fruit.

Lunch will typically occur while we are out adventuring and is your responsibility. We may all pop into one little cafe or may find different spots we are drawn to. For our west coast pilgrims, we will stop at a grocery early in the trip so we can each buy our favorite items to pack for days when we will not be near a cafe during lunchtime.

For dinner, we will eat out or have prepared food brought in. On each of our 2026 Scotland trips, we will have three prepared dinners brought in. We will take turns paying the bill for the remaining seven meals out. This way, each of us pays fully for one dinner instead of paying daily percentages of meals. This helps us have fewer card transactions and fees, and often is appreciated by the restaurants who don’t always want to pay fees on numerous individual transactions. We will seek out restaurants that feature local specialties and flavors.

Dietary needs are respected- please make sure to share if you have any significant needs or allergies. We can also go to a grocery store so that you can pick out your own snacks on the go.

Terms of Service

1. Please read the Terms of Service carefully. When you're ready to proceed, use the form below to apply for this pilgrimage, and be prepared to pay your non-refundable deposit of $1,000 to reserve your space.

2. When the application form below is received, you will be contacted to schedule a meeting to discuss your pilgrimage. The purpose of this meeting is to answer any questions you may have, to collect your deposit, make payment plans, and to discuss ways to optimize your trip.

3. After you have paid the deposit, the remaining fee is due in full 90 days before the trip’s start date, unless other arrangements are made. Payment plans may be arranged in special cases, with all fees due in full 30 days before arrival. Payments may be made by check or via credit card. Those paying via check will receive a $100 discount.

4. You will receive health and travel guidelines, currency and travel insurance information, some preparatory research material, a packing list, and suggestions for making the most of your pilgrimage in the months before the trip. Monette is available to help you with other details or questions along the way outside of our three scheduled pre-trip classes.

5. If the pilgrimage is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, your deposit and trip fee will be refunded as much as is possible, depending on availability of refunds from pre-paid hospitality providers and vendors. Cancelling international flights and negotiating reimbursement will be your responsibility. Paying your deposit and reserving your space indicates that you agree to this.

6. Your deposit is your commitment. It is non-refundable, as it will be used to pre-pay for lodging and transport expenses. Cancellations after you have paid the deposit for this trip may not be refundable or may only be partially refundable if we cannot fill your space. We regret that we cannot be more flexible with refunds, even in the case of emergency, close to the trip itself. Paying your deposit and reserving your space indicates that you agree to this.

7. Personal Liability: Monette Chilson, operating under Reclamation Enterprises, DBA WomanSpirit Reclamation and branded as Excavating Her, acts solely as a tour guide for this trip. We are not responsible or liable for problems arising in flights, transportation, itinerary changes or circumstances beyond our control, nor for any loss, injury or damage to your person or property, mental health emergencies, nor for any delays in transportation. We expect you to provide your own travel insurance. We reserve the right to cancel the trip or any part of it, to refuse to retain any trip member at any time, and to pass on to trip members any unexpected expenses incurred through events beyond our control. Paying your deposit and reserving your space indicates that you agree to this.

8. Please note that Excavating Her pilgrimages:

require physical and mental stamina
require mindfulness of ourselves, others, our property, and our environment
require an ability to adhere to cultural protocols, local laws, boundaries, and trip guidelines for safety and security

9. We will pick you up at the airport or an airport hotel on the day that the trip starts, and drop you off at the airport or airport hotel on the day that the trip ends. If you would like to arrive earlier or leave later, your taxi and hotel fees will be your responsibility. A flight coordination Zoom meeting will be scheduled, and information will be shared, to ensure that as many members of our groups arrive at the airport on the same flight as possible, but flying with other trip members cannot be guaranteed.

10. Cultural competency and good conduct are required when traveling with Monette on an Excavating Her pilgrimage. If you bring any controlled substance to an area where it is illegal, such as cannabis, you will be asked to dispose of it immediately, and you may be asked to leave the trip with no refund if you put the group at risk. Please do not use dating apps or bring any individual back to your room during the pilgrimage, as this can have a negative impact on group dynamics and present possible dangers. Please check in directly with Monette if you have questions. Paying your deposit and reserving your space indicates that you agree to this.
